# Learning Modalities and Competencies
In Missions, the development of toolsets, skillsets, and mindsets that compose professional functions and profiles can be addressed with different active learning modalities.
Thus, **tools** (*toolset*) can be learned **individually from problems,** with well-defined contexts.
The ***skillset*** is preferably developed **by working in teams and addressing projects that require collaboration between different capabilities and approaches**, but they can be highly controlled in the sense of not needing a direct connection with real life in their development.
Finally, to develop a ***mindset*** it is necessary to address **challenges understood as projects that tackle real problems and are solved in interaction with external agents or community**.
Our **missions** are a specific type of **learning challenges that allow for the coordinated development of all three sets of competencies** (integrated into functions), involving or simulating different agents and introducing various levels of complexity and uncertainty by design.
