In Missions, the development of toolsets, skillsets, and mindsets that compose professional functions and profiles can be addressed with different active learning modalities. Thus, tools (toolset) can be learned individually from problems, with well-defined contexts. The skillset is preferably developed by working in teams and addressing projects that require collaboration between different capabilities and approaches, but they can be highly controlled in the sense of not needing a direct connection with real life in their development. Finally, to develop a mindset it is necessary to address challenges understood as projects that tackle real problems and are solved in interaction with external agents or community. Our missions are a specific type of learning challenges that allow for the coordinated development of all three sets of competencies (integrated into functions), involving or simulating different agents and introducing various levels of complexity and uncertainty by design.
